The Allen VR Stanley Secondary School
The Uganda baseball and softball association (UBASA) was founded by Unlimited Potential incorporation, a Christian organization based in the United States of America in 1989. This Christian Body chose Mr. Barnabas Mwesigye who was also a national soccer coach to coordinate the sport in the country.
Baseball and softball started in three secondary and one primary school namely Kings College Buddo, Old Kampala S.S., Mengo S.S. and Nakasero Primary school with only 3 gloves, 2 bats, 2 softballs and 3 baseballs. The Association by that time did not have physical address, organization structures and its operations were not legally mandated by National Council of Sports.
In the late 1990s’ two new members joined the Association to form an executive committee of chairperson, General Secretary and treasurer. The executive committee ran baseball and softball for a period of 16 years without legal instruments. Between 2009 and 2010, the three executive members resigned due to external pressures from National Council of Sports and the Ministry of Education and Sports to formalize baseball and softball like other sports disciplines. This left baseball and softball with no governing body.
It was the responsibility of National Council of Sports to ensure that the game remains governed in the generally accepted procedures and rules. It therefore took on the incentive to develop various legal instruments namely; UBASA constitution, registration of Schools, clubs and to call on the general assembly.
On the 22nd October 2011, a new fully mandated Executive committee composed of seven members and other sub committee members was elected into office at National council of Sports offices Lugogo.
Currently the Association is affiliated to National Council of sports and the Uganda Olympic committee.
